The impact of ICT

Using ICT to efficiently provide services to citizens is an important area where digital technologies can make a difference in generating broad-based gains. ICT is an inclusive term, covering all communication equipment or application software: for example, radio, television, mobile phone, computer, network hardware and software, and satellite system, as well as various services and application software related to it, such as video conference and distance learning. The importance of ICTs is not the technology as such, but its enabling function in facilitating enhanced access to information and communication across large distances. ICTs have been used in many innovative ways to achieve social impacts, such as promoting access to basic services including health, finance, and insurance.

ICTs connect people to jobs.  Online employment marketplaces are helping an estimated 12 million people worldwide find work by connecting them with employers globally. We provide our students with skills that are useful in getting online jobs.
